Our plans

In the community - We would like more services located together in accessible, child and adolescent-friendly sites in many areas including Liverpool, Sefton and Knowsley. This would mean that teams of different professionals could work together under one roof so that families with multiple needs would only have to travel to one centre.

At the Hospital - Our services will not change. It is the location of the hospital and the way services are delivered that we are considering. Its design would be child and young person-centred, with a welcoming and comforting environment. We would like relevant departments to be conveniently connected – such as wards, operating theatres, the X-ray department, intensive care and A&E.

Day case facilities - An increasing number of medical and surgical conditions can now be treated without the inconvenience of having to stay in hospital over night. Because demand for this type of care is increasing, we would like to build a dedicated day case facility.

Outpatient services - Many of our patients no longer need to come to hospital for outpatient and follow-up services. We plan to develop plans with Primary Care Trusts so that patients can be treated in the most convenient setting for them.

Accident and emergency (A&E) - In line with Government policy, we would like to reduce the numbers of people who find themselves in A&E, but can access care in the first instance close to home.

Accommodation for families - We hope to design new inpatient facilities so that a parent or carer can sleep next to their child.
